Mexico Cold Storage: 30-Ton Combined Tube and Block Ice Facility
Project Overview
A cold chain logistics company in Veracruz, Mexico, needed both tube ice (for beverage and seafood transport) and block ice (for long-haul refrigerated trucking). The facility serves multiple industries from a single location.
Solution
DAXTRO provided a dual-production facility combining a 20-ton/day tube ice machine and a 10-ton/day block ice machine, sharing a common cold room and water treatment system. The integrated design minimized footprint while maximizing production flexibility.
Key Specifications
- Tube Ice: DAXTRO TBE-20T with Bitzer compressor
- Block Ice: DAXTRO BBI-10T block ice machine
- Cold Room: 12m x 8m x 3.5m, 80-ton combined storage
- Control: Single MCGS PLC managing both machines
- Special: Spanish language interface, NOM-compliant electrical
Results
- Single facility serves 50+ regular customers across three industries
- Shared infrastructure reduced total investment by 25 percent vs two separate plants
- Automated ice bagging system increased throughput by 40 percent
- Became the preferred ice supplier in the Veracruz region within 12 months
